RAGING FYAH – A NEW GENERATION OF ROOTS, ROCK & REGGAE ANNOUNCES U.S. SPRING TOUR WITH STICK FIGURE

New Studio Album Everlasting Slated for May 2016 on Dub Rockers

“…most promising acts…their revolutionary spirit evoking the late Peter Tosh or Steel Pulse circa the late 1970s” – Billboard

“whole crowd was drawn to its feet in a visible wave, like fallen dominoes getting up again.” (in regards to their 2015 Rebel Salute performance) -VOGUE

Raging Fyah, one of Jamaica’s most promising roots reggae bands of this generation, announces U.S. Spring tour with American reggae band Stick Figure. The five-piece Kingston collective will play solo dates in Colorado and Arizona (from March 1-5) beforing supporting Stick Figure in mid-March until end of April for the 25-city cross-country Set In Stone Tour. The progessive reggae band is also gearing up for the release of their eagerly-awaited studio album Everlasting, due in May 2016 on Dub Rockers, the newest imprint from the world’s largest reggae distributor VP Records. Raging Fyah will tour in support their first two albums Judgement Day (2011) and Destiny (2014) as well as showcase new music from Everlasting.

Raging Fyah’s soul-filled sound continues to make waves in the latest reggae renaissance. The buzzworthy band made both OkayPlayer LargeUp’s and Marley Natural’s 2016 Artists To Watch list, and their upcoming release has been selected by The Pier as one of 2016’s Most Anticipated Albums.

Since their debut, their infectious vibes have been spreading like wildfire. The band has already made a name for themselves in their native country playing large stage shows such as as Reggae Sumfest, Rebel Salute and Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival. They have also developed a devoted following internationally, after performing on South American stages as well as headlining major European reggae festivals (Summerjam, Rototom Sunsplash and Garance). They are steadily capturing the hearts of North American listeners too. They completed a mini-tour in California last year and played at the annual Sierra Nevada Reggae Festival in 2014. On the U.S. Spring 2016 tour, Raging Fyah hopes to expand their growing fan base and reach untapped markets.

Raging Fyah consists of Kumar Bent (lead singer), Courtland White (guitarist) Anthony Watson (drummer), Demar Gayle (keyboardist) and Delroy Hamilton (bassist). Some of the members met at Edna Manley College of Visual & Performing Arts in Kingston, but the band itself didn’t form until 2006. Inspired by the likes The Wailers, Third World, Steel Pulse and Aswad, RagingFyah tackles similar topics of socio-economics and politics with an underlying message of hope and inspiration. Fueled by passion, purpose and life experiences, their lyrics touch and motivate people from all walks of life and their lush lively instrumentation soothes the soul. Their vintage sound coupled with a fresh contemporary flare gives them a particular edge over their predecessors.

  • TRON Transforms Soca Music Globally

World-renowned producer, performer and deejay Derek Pereira and his TRON imprint transform soca music globally with three new hit compilation albums – R.R. Rhythm, Heartbreak Riddim and Grinders Riddim (both now available for pre-order and will be released worldwide on March 25, 2016), exclusively from FOX FUSE. Born in San Juan, Trinidad and Tobago, Pereira cultivated his musical empire first as a deejay with his own sound system known as X-Caliber Sound, which was established in 1998.

This was followed by his inevitable progression as a soca artist (scoring his breakout hit “Millennium Wine” on the Voodoo Riddim back in 2001), known to fans as Dawg E. Slaughter or Mr. Slaughter, and he has been entertaining universal audiences both as a deejay or artist, ever since.

Derek Pereira aka X-Caliber Sound winning 1st place in the 2016 International Soca DJ Competition, held in Trinidad on January 30, 2016.

Derek Pereira aka X-Caliber Sound winning 1st place in the 2016 International Soca DJ Competition, held in Trinidad on January 30, 2016.

Pereira’s contribution to Caribbean music on an international scale further evolved as he started producing music, first as an executive producer then co-producer with the ideas but not the full engineering knowledge, which he eventually learned by enrolling at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), where he graduated from an advanced certification course in Music Technology.

This knowledge nurtured Pereira’s production skills and helped him compose the most popular soundtrack for the 2016 Trinidad Carnival season, the R.R. Rhythm. One could not walk the streets in Trinidad and Tobago without hearing the hit tracks spawned from the R.R. Rhythm, from boomboxes on bikes and vendor stalls, on personal playlists and radio in passing vehicles, and in the clubs or at fetes and festivals during Trinidad Carnival.

A true music veteran as a deejay, artist and producer, and with his fingers on the pulse of soca music, the R.R. Rhythm catapults Pereira and his TRON production house to instant stardom.

Under its exclusive, global distribution deal with the world’s largest soca music label, FOX FUSE, the TRON catalog of hits now becomes available to the soca massive and international masses. “As a deejay, songwriter, artist, executive producer and now producer, it is a great feeling when the world accepts and appreciates your work,” Pereira reveals. “The R.R. Rhythm turns a new page for me. Soca music is my culture and I intend to highlight this, but I would also like to mention the broader spectrum of my mission, which is music. I see myself as limitless and I will go beyond the boundaries and venture into many genres, fusing it with ours.”

Such fusion of flavors can be heard on the three new compilations, from the blending of jazz instrumentation and soca to bring the essence of jouvert on the R.R. Rhythm, to the classic one-drop reggae beats of the Heartbreak Riddim, and kompa meshed with tropical soca on the groovy Grinders Riddim.

The R.R. Rhythm has spawned all five tracks as instant radio jams and crowd favorites, including smash tunes from M1 with “Trouble (When De Sun Rise),” Blaxx with “Master Of Mas,” Fantom DunDeal with “4 Play” and Salty featuring TRON and Brass “Gyal Meets Brass (F Jam) (Start It).” The Heartbreak Riddim births eight heartfelt reggae gems including Orlando Octave with “Herb Activist (No Drugs),” Kenne Blessin with “Jah Calling” featuring Chapta Nyne, Jah Bami with “Live Life With A Purpose” and Jabulani with “Hold You.”

Pereira dons his artist cap on the Grinders Riddim, which is short and sweet with “Fete Anthem” from Dawg E. Slaughter and “This Woman” by Orlando Octave. Covering the full spectrum of Caribbean music and encompassing soca, calypso, reggae, dancehall, kompa and even jazz elements, these compilations deliver something for everyone, and are bound to satisfy music fans everywhere.

“We’ve been big fans of Pereira’s work from day one, as a soca artist and sound system deejay, even prior to his productions,” states Zack Cohen, CEO of FOX FUSE. “We hope to see his career flourish further and we are happy to be part of his journey, as we make his catalog of hits available from FOX FUSE to the global market.”

Having toured the world extensively throughout his multi-faceted career, Pereira and X-Caliber Sound are currently on tour in the United States, deejaying for crowds in New York City before heading to Miami, Florida for the 2016 Ultra Music Festival and Winter Music Conference (WMC 2016). Spinning and performing TRON’s hit productions on yet another world stage, Pereira brings his signature sounds, and soca music on the whole, as he transforms, increases and satisfies soca’s worldwide demand.

After a 2015 rich in guest appearances (Joey Badass, Allan Kingdom, Inner Circle, Major Lazer, Protoje & Maverick Sabre), Chronixx enters the new year with new music in the form of Roots & Chalice – a mixtape collaboration with renowned Brooklyn sound system Federation Sound – and an April U.S. tour (including Coachella 2016) in support of the project.

This week, he drops the first visual from Roots & Chalice entitled “Perfect Tree” featuring Easah. The video sets the tone for mixtape’s theme as Chronixx professes his love for herb over Black Star’s iconic “Respiration” (feat. Common) beat.

Roots & Chalice follows the critically-acclaimed Start A Fire mixtape with Walshy Fire (Major Lazer) in 2012. This mixtape is guaranteed to wet the appetite for the Spanish Town singer’s highly-anticipated debut album planned for later this year. Max Glazer & Kenny Meez of Federation Sound compile more than twenty of their favorite tracks as Chronixx freestyles fiery lyrics & his signature flow on an eclectic selection of beats.

In addition to current hits unattached to other projects and reworking fan favorites from previous projects, Roots & Chalice features exclusive new songs either produced by the in-house production team (Zincfence Records / Special Delivery Music) or on classic instrumentals.

The first track lifted from Roots & Chalice is titled “Majesty.” Studio One lovers will recognize the instrumental – Otis Gayle “I’ll Be Around” (Sound Dimension / Studio One) – with added guitar provided by Nnamdi Robinson of Zincfence Redemption. The second song is “Spanish Town Rockin”, an instantly familiar yet fresh take on Barrington Levy’s “Prison Oval Rock” and third, thought-provoking “Sell My Gun” produced by Teflon & S.O.S of Zincfence Records.

Never one to not share the limelight, the project also features guest appearances from Dre Island, Kelissa, Kabaka Pyramid and Eesah another member of the Zincfence family.

Chronixx rounded off a historic 2015 with the second staging of the landmark Capture Land Jamaica Tour which saw him performing in his home town Spanish Town for the first time and also visited Manchester and Falmouth, Jamaica.

Continuing on from the groundbreaking Glastonbury performance last year, it was recently announced that Chronixx will perform at the Coachella 2016 in California, USA, as well as Wildlife & Parklife Festivals, UK & Love Box Festival, UK. More dates will be announced in Europe, Africa, West Indies, Japan and North America.

  • Caribbean Music Festival 2016

Soca Music Festival launches new name and location.

The Soca Music Festival has launched a new name and location. As a part of its rebranding and growth plans the brand has changed its name to the Caribbean Music Festival and joined forces with Liverpool carnival.

After being solely devoted to the Caribbean’s Soca music genre since its launch two years ago, the festival has evolved into displaying the array of Caribbean music genres.

Taking the show on the road
Liverpool is 2016’s new location for the brand. This year Liverpool Carnival is celebrating its first carnival parade and with its exciting new plans, the Caribbean Music festival will bring live Caribbean festival entertainment to the stage. Luton has been home to festival since its launch in 2014.

Commenting on the move to Liverpool, Event Director, Garvin Johnson says; ‘We’re extremely excited to be taking the festival to Liverpool Carnival. The carnival is getting even bigger in Liverpool and it’s a great time to be bringing the festival to a new audience’

    What will be happening
The outdoor music festival experience is still the root of the festival. The weekend will start with the festival launch party, then the festival stage goes live on the Saturday with the Liverpool Carnival big parade and ends with an after party.

It is designed to make its audience escape into the Caribbean, mimicking the look and feel of a Caribbean island street party with a live Caribbean band and artists creating a party atmosphere. The lineup extends across the reggae, soca, calypso and salsa.

    Why the change?
Soca music is our passion and the original reason for the festival was to create more awareness to the sounds of Soca. the change comes because comparing the sounds of Caribbean music allows us to depict the diverse nature of Caribbean music while highlighting similarities and influences on each other.

  • FADER Magazine Names TIFA Among Top 25 Artiste In the World To Watch

Tifa was in top form over the weekend when she invaded the sunshine state delivering a scintillating performance to the packed house at the Dunns River Island Café in Tampa, Florida.

The audience, an amalgamation of Caribbean and North American nationals saw the dancehaller unraveling her growing catalogue to much fanfare as patrons showed bountiful adulation and sang in unison to hits such as ‘Spell It Out’, ‘Crawny Gyal’ and the award winning ‘Jealous Ova’ among others. Despite being newly released her latest efforts ‘Bout This Love’ and ‘Big Bumper’ were also well received as patrons reveled in a crowd participation exercise during her set.

Speaking with members of the media following the concert a seemingly exhausted but happy Tifa said,

“The show was just too awesome! The crowd was lit! The vibes was right! I even stayed back and partied til the lights came on. Pure niceness!”.

In recent times the Jamaican star has seen an upsurge in international popularity, a trend which is being furthered by U.S based FADER Magazine. In an article written by Owen Myers and Ruth Saxelby in the January 2016 edition of the American tabloid titled “25 Artists From Around The World You Need To Know Right Now” the music connoisseurs placed Tifa at No. 21 stating that, “Jamaican dancehall star Tifa has been making music for almost a decade, but she’s not run out of explosive subject matter yet. Her most recent mixtape, Stay Away, addresses sexual taboos with wit and wine-inducing beats.”

Of note is the fact that she is the ONLY Jamaican and one of two Caribbean nationals making the list. The other Caribbean representative is Trinidad’s Bunji Garlin.

Responding to the endorsement a seemingly jocund Tifa added,

“I’m honoured flattered and excited! A whole lot of great emotions ran through me when I saw it. It’s a good look not only for myself, but Jamaica and dancehall! Definitely one of the proudest moments of my career. Fader Magazine is a big deal! Drake was on their last cover! Lol”

Meanwhile, currently on a week-long business and promotional stint in Florida. Tifa is set to return to the island later this month to commence an aggressive promotional campaign around her new singles ‘Bout This Love’, Big Bumper’, ‘The Champ’ and ‘Dreaming’ the latter produced by radio jock turn producer DJ Nicco on the Vacation Rhythm.

She teamed with soca music heavyweights to compose her soundtrack, including Trinidadian hit houses Precision Productions, Martian Music, Stadic Music, Mega Mick and AdvoKit Productions.

“On this album, I wanted to bring out the ‘fun’ side of myself,” reveals Batson. “I felt all of the producers and writers who worked on this album with me completely understood the direction I want to take with my music. I thank them for devoting their time, energy and talent, and my gratitude also goes out to all the writers on the album.”

  • NEW 2016 MUSIC VIDEO RELEASE – Kerwin Du Bois – Arrogant (Official Music Video)

It would be evident when watching this video that Singer/Songwriter/Producer Kerwin Du Bois drew major influence from one of the most creative minds in music; POP legend Michael Jackson. If you are wondering whether Kerwin’s love for music was heavily influenced by MJ, the answer is YES. It has never been Kerwin’s prerogative to be average or normal and this video is reinforcement of this. Not that he is trying to be ARROGANT… well … if he was, it would be understandable (all sarcasm intended.)

Kerwin would admit, creating this video was not an easy feat but it was worth every single retake, every hour and location change to ensure his vision was met. Director and Editor Sean Padmore who was responsible for the creation of Kerwin’s hit video for “No Apology” has one of the craziest minds which was perfect for this project yet again. Padmore and his team pooled every bit of their crazy creativity which can be seen in the final product. Along with the crazy creativity we are labelling the animation done by award winning animator Nicholas Maxwell, “The best in Soca.”

Opening with a classic piano melody, “Love Suicide” maintains a fresh and unique style of contemporary and classic R&B influences.

Raging Fyah will return back to the U.S. at end of May for the annual Cali Roots Festival.

The progessive reggae band is also gearing up for the release of their eagerly-awaited studio album Everlasting, due in May 2016.

Fueled by passion, purpose and life experiences, their lyrics touch and motivate people from all walks of life and their lush lively instrumentation soothes the soul. • New Album / Producer Bulby York – Epic & Ting / Debut Effort Blending Reggae and EDM feat. Jamaican Superstar Vocalists

Producer and engineer Collin “Bulby” York rallies Jamaican superstars – Beres Hammond, Bounty Killer, Tenor Saw, Assassin, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Jesse Royal, Maxi Priest, Cherine, Sizzla, Busy Signal, Lutan Fyah and more – for his debut album Epic & Ting. Bulby’s sound spans multiple genres – merging reggae, dancehall, dub and EDM into a style of his own.

As one of Jamaica’s most in-demand studio men, the Kingston-born producer has put his touch on signature dancehall records by Sean Paul, Bounty Killer and Beenie Man and also worked with the who’s who of pop music, including No Doubt, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Madonna. After years of bringing other people’s projects to life, Bulby now has a masterpiece he can call his own in Epic & Ting.

The album features a mixture of reggae staples (Sizzla, Maxi Priest) and up-and-coming talents (Lennox, Ch’an) from across the Caribbean. “The concept is me being the artiste/producer who makes the beats and gets the best songs with talented artistes from the Caribbean,” he told the Jamaica Observer. “It is similar to a David Guetta or a Calvin Harris project.”

Fans of reggae music will be treated to some truly epic collaboration. “Anything Goes” teams dancehall warlord Bounty Killer with the King of Jamaican Lovers Rock, Beres Hammond. On “Whom Shall I Fear,” he pairs dancehall boss (and Kanye and Kendrick collaborator) Assassin with some lost vocals from Tenor Saw, the late icon known for “Ring the Alarm.” And “Soul Almighty” makes the unexpected connection between up-and-coming conscious crooner Jesse Royal and Lee “Scratch” Perry.

  • DARRIO PREPARES SOULTRY VIDEO FOR ‘FRIEND WITH BENEFITS’ SINGLE

Former Subkonshus recording artiste, Darrio, has shot his first official music video since his exit from the Subkonshus camp last year. The video is aligned to the edgy and sexy single ‘Friend With Benefits’ (FWB) recorded on the recently released ‘No Apology’ Riddim for Craigy T’s Gafjam Records label.

“It has been a process of revamping and reanalyzing the new image and direction for my career and organizing the flow with the new members of PROJECT Darrio, we are now ready to churn out all the new material that I have been recording and also getting the visuals out so fans can see a different side to me” Darrio explained

The Friend With Benefits’ video, shot at various locations in Kingston, detail a girl cheating on her boyfriend with Darrio in private but pretends to be just friends with him in public. Darrio, when grilled about the words of the single and the motivation, says it came from a personal experience he had but declined to specify if this was a current situation.

“Almost everyone at one time or another has had this kind of friendship or interaction, so it’s relatable to most, even my own experience; past, present or future. It’s not talking about any specific girl at a specific point in time but people will speculate based on rumors who the song is about” Darrio intimated.

The Friend With Benefits Video is directed by Dameon Gayle and will be released in a matter of days. The single is one of a few singles gaining traction on Craigy T ‘s ‘No Apology’ Part 1, the riddim also includes singles from Lia Caribe ‘Unemployed’, General Degree ‘You Mi Come Fah’, Hawkeye ‘Champion Jockey’ and Kenny Smith and Bay C ‘Sorry’.

Darrio is also looking at releasing another video for his ‘Explode’ single recently shot in New York. He will be heading to The Tri State for the EXPLODE video launch in Magnet Lounge Queens New York and then returns to Jamaica to prepare for his performance at Trelawny Jerk Festival.
