Sponsorship supports a free celebration of Caribbean culture, community, and well-being in Times Square
NEW YORK, NY — Tropicalfete, Inc. proudly welcomes NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health as an official sponsor of its 5th Annual Caribbean Pop-Up Carnival in Times Square. The free, family-friendly celebration will take place on Sunday, August 30, beginning at 1:00 p.m. along Broadway between West 46th and West 47th Streets.
The sponsorship reflects a shared commitment to serving New York City’s diverse communities and supporting initiatives that promote culture, connection, inclusion, and community well-being. Through its support, NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health is helping Tropicalfete present an accessible cultural experience that brings Caribbean traditions to residents, visitors, families, and cultural enthusiasts in the heart of New York City.

The Caribbean Pop-Up Carnival will transform Times Square into a vibrant showcase of Caribbean music, dance, masquerade, steel pan, stilt walking, fitness, and artistic expression. Attendees are encouraged to wear carnival costumes, wave their national flags, and join Tropicalfete in celebrating the richness and diversity of Caribbean culture.
The event will be headlined by legendary Billboard-charting soca artist Rupert “Rupee” Clarke, internationally recognized for his global hit “Tempted to Touch.” Rupee will also be honored by city and state officials for his contributions to Caribbean music and culture and for his advocacy in raising awareness and challenging stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS.
The entertainment lineup will also feature Mapy, “The Violin Queen,” whose performances blend classical violin with Caribbean rhythms and hip-hop beats. Additional attractions will include the Tropicalfete Steel Pan Ensemble, Tropicalfete’s Stilting Unit and masqueraders, Riddim Explosion, a high-energy soca fitness workout led by Mandy, and musical selections by DJ Patrick and DJ Eric.
Masquerade presentations will celebrate traditional, folkloric, ole mas, satirical, and pretty mas traditions from across the Caribbean. Participating performers and mas bands will include Ron and Rhonda, Spice Island Shortknee, Jab Jab Family, King Jab, Sugar Candy Mas, Branches and Associates Mas Band, Big Boy Productions Mas Band, Kaios International Kids Mas Band, and Wicked Feters.
As one of Tropicalfete’s signature cultural events, the Caribbean Pop-Up Carnival attracts thousands of residents, tourists, and cultural enthusiasts. The celebration promotes cultural preservation, artistic development, public participation, and intergenerational learning while creating a welcoming space for communities to experience the sights, sounds, and traditions of Caribbean Carnival.
