Skinny Banton wins Carriacou 2012 Soca Monarch and launches new Video
Carriacou’s Skinny Banton is the 2012 Soca Monarch King in the Tri State island of Grenada’s, Carriacou and Petit Martinque. Skinny’s won with his Soca Monarch tune ‘Turn ova’ which is produced by Youngstars Productions. The night before Skinny Banton won the People Choice Soca Monarch.
Last night on Tuesday 6th March 2012 Skinny Banton released his video for his Soca Monarch winning tune online via youtube. The video captures the energy of Soca Monarch and the essence of Carriacou’s carnival. The video for ‘Turn ova’ is Directed by Kerry Velon and the track is produced by Youngstarz Productions. The video will be played on BEN TV in England and other TV and online TV networks.
Skinny Banton was born in Trinidad now residing in Carriacou Grenada. Skinny Banton came to light supporting Marlon Asher “The Ganja Famer” on stage at the After Ours night club in Carriacou, 2005 where he received huge audience applause for his song Mek A Deal. Since then Skinny Banton supported artists such as Bunji Garlin, Baby Killa, Hasty Killa, Richie Spice, I-Sasha and Prophet Benjamin.
In 2009 Skinny Banton launched his track ‘No war’ which won him a place at the Carriacou Soca Monarch Finals. In August 2009 Skinny Banton took part in many events at Grenada’s Spicemas from the Carib Road shows to the Timeplus beats cruise. Skinny Banton won over more fans with his hit tracks; ’Granny’ and ‘Cyan Tek it’.
Over the last few years Skinny Banton took part in Carriacou Soca Monarch and last year Skinny Banton reached the Grenada Soca Monarch semi finals. The artist also released a few music videos ‘Wanna make up, Can’t tek it, Songs of praise and take my place’.
Skinny Banton is currently working his videos for ‘Jab Jab swag’ as well as preparing for Grenada’s Spicemas carnival 2012.
