SANJAY RECOVERS WITH CHAMPION BUBBLA
After the theft of his music files a few weeks ago, ace lyricist and media personality Sanjay has recovered with a new song and video dubbed Champion Bubbla on Downsound Records’ Quarter Mile Riddim.
The video which premiered worldwide on Jamaicansmusic.com and YouTube on May 31 is the artiste’s way of showing that he cannot be held back.
Sanjay, who has been releasing a string of notable tracks over the last few months, says he is not daunted by his setbacks and will continue to produce good music. “Champion Bubbla is my first release after the theft of the files and my way of showing that the music will continue. Though the files have not been returned and it has set me back a bit I am recovering”.
Champion Bubbla, the video, is the story of two female Europeans who want to know what it means to bubble. With the help of Sanjay they visit several of the weekly parties held throughout Kingston to learn the indigenous art. The video is a fun filled 3 minutes; shot intentionally in an amateurish manner to reflect the situation of the two women”.
Sanjay says the video mimics his approach to music; fun filled and entertaining, “My fans appreciate that my music is all about fun and entertainment. When we do a video we always try to ensure that whoever is watching is entertained. At the same time however, I remain true to the art of dancehall”
The video for Champion Bubbla was directed by Sanjay and Tyarro for Portland Cottage Productions and Innah Mi Genes Films.
The artiste says he is currently busy putting the final touches on his Rich Mix Tape which will be released in about a week. The mix tape is a combination of new and used material and features appearances from the likes of Dazzla, Melloquence, Deep Jahi, Tyarro and Sadiki. The work is currently being mixed by Rinse from Cashflow.
