The Jamaican artist’s forward-thinking album channels an array of styles and sounds from reggae, dancehall, dub, hip hop and rock into a cohesive 10 track LP. All songs were recorded at the legendary Marley-owned Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston and maintains the essence of Jamaican roots music, while pushing the envelope. “It’s not as traditional as my last album, but it’s still authentic,” explains Protoje. “It’s more innovative, more global and more experimental. I want to elevate reggae culture and the world’s perception of it.”
On A Matter Of Time, Protoje continues his creative partnerships with long-time producer Winta James and fellow roots king Chronixx, who is featured on two of the album’s tracks. This is the first time Protoje and Chronixx have collaborated since their 2014 smash “Who Knows,” which has garnered over 70 million Youtube views for the video alone.
