Washington DC’s own Konshens (pronounced: conscience) has taken this DMV by storm. The once child prodigy attended The Institute for the Gifted and Talented at the tender age of 4. As a young child, he began writing poetry and continued to play music wherever there was an audience, all while developing his unique contribution to hip hop. Now as an adult, when he is not giving back to his community as a “teaching Artist-in-Residence” at 3 different schools in Washington, DC, Konshens & His State of Mind (his own 7 piece band) are traveling the nation. Back home he has received the Appreciation award from the City Council of Baltimore, the “Best Rap Album”, the “Best Male Hip-Hop Artist” and the “Entertainer of the Year” award from Velocity Magazines; amongst other accolades.
