Sly & Robbie Present Danielle DI – The Rebel, Available on June 11, 2013

NEW YORK, NY – Reggae/dancehall blockbuster hit makers Sly & Robbie present dancehall female sing jay Danielle “DI” in her debut studio effort, The Rebel, in stores June 11, 2013 from Tad’s Record, with pre-order available now. Born Danielle Isaacs and raised a stone’s throw away from the home of the legendary Bob Marley in Kingston, Jamaica, Danielle is determined to follow in his footsteps as an ambassador for her homeland. The Rebel accomplishes this ambitious goal and catapults this music sensation towards fulfilling her dream of being a global sensation.

Working with legendary producers and songwriters on eight sizzling tracks, Danielle “DI” is following a formula for sure success. She also collaborates with some of the top names in reggae and dancehall, including Cherine Anderson on the title track “Rebel,” dancehall great Shabba Ranks on “Big Man,” and reggae royalty Gramps Morgan on “Sexual Healing.” Writers include Wayne ‘Devonte” Passley, Paul Wright, Sly Dunbar, Orville Baker and Peter Gayle.

“Putting out this album has a bit of excitement to it because it’s a different kind of a showcase of dancehall from a female point of view,” reveal producers Sly & Robbie and Orville “Rory” Baker. “We are confident of the impact it will make based on the single ‘Rebel,’ which we used to test the platform for a dancehall sound that is consistent with musical and vocal arrangements.” They also disclose the album took 10 months to put together. “We went through a number of tracks and re-wrote some of the songs over and over. We were aiming to keep a concept and that was the biggest challenge.” Paul “Patchy” Wright also worked as a producer on this project, in addition to Sly & Robbie and Baker.

Known to fans as the ‘Rebel Princess of Dancehall,’ Danielle “DI” has been on the scene for some time, honing her skills and working on her craft with the likes of Beenie Man, Ce’Cile and Vybz Kartel. She has toured throughout the years, performing in the United States, UK and across the Caribbean, building her fan base and developing her sound to prepare for her ultimate goal of releasing her very first album, now in hand.

“We are extremely honored to have been chosen to distribute Danielle “DI”‘s album, as she is a talented artist and really brings a welcoming change to the dancehall scene,” states Tad Dawkins, President of Tad’s Record. “Added to this is the opportunity to continue our long-standing relationship with the rhythm twins Sly & Robbie and Rorey Baker. Their work continues to breathe a refreshing and unique wind into the reggae industry – great production and great music, full stop!”
