Saint Lucians in New York Celebrates Jounen Kweyol
The Saint Lucia House Foundation in conjunction with the Saint Lucia Consulate in New York is set to observe Creole Heritage Month in New York. This year’s festival will take place on Sunday October 25th, 2015 with an action filled day in Brooklyn. This event will showcase the rich cultural heritage of Saint Lucia and introduce others to the island’s amazing history and traditions that continue to be celebrated to this day. This year’s celebration will feature De Inferno Band, Tropicalfete Steel Pan Ensemble, DJ Eryk Natural Sounds, Drummers, Dancers, The Children of Culture, Saint Lucia Folklore Association, Saint Lucian American La Rose and Solo Group, National Wear Fashion Models and many more.
President of The Saint Lucia House Foundation Matthias Wilkie indicated that he is expecting a block buster turnout. Wilkie stated: “Based on the demand for advanced tickets it is expected that the attendance might break last year’s record attendance”. Due to the popularity of this festival, it was necessary to relocate the event from the Saint Lucia House where it had been held in previous years. This year’s festivities will be held at PACIFIC BK., conveniently located at 1065 Pacific Street between
Franklin and Classon Avenues. The event starts at 12-10pm.
