  • New Video – Christopher Martin – Steppin Razor

    JAMAICAN SINGER CHRISTOPHER MARTIN IS

“SHARP AS A RAZOR” (LARGE UP) ON NEW VIDEO

“Stepping Razor” Is Title Track Off His Eagerly-Awaited Debut EP on VP Records

“Chris’ smooth crooning…matched with his confident demeanor establishes a sense of invincibility, and therein lies the connection to Peter Tosh’s similarly-named 1977 classic.” -OkayPlayer LargeUp

Jamaican reggae crooner Christopher Martin drops his new video for “Steppin Razor,” the title track off his VP Records’ debut EP slated for release this spring. Directed by Kurt Wright and shot in Kingston, Jamaica – the humorous video follows Martin out on the town as he swarms the club with lovely ladies.

    WATCH VIDEO HERE:

“Steppin Razor,” produced by Frankie Music, isn’t the 1977 Peter Tosh classic (written by the late Joe Higgs, a mentor to Tosh and the legendary reggae group The Wailers). Although it champions a kindred spirit of invincibility, in this case Martin’s unrivaled appeal is to the ladies.

“Tosh’s song had a militancy, cutting down inequality, but I am saying a steppin razor is sharper than the rest, it is having so much confidence in yourself that whatever you are doing you are going to be sharp in it, whether it is with women, school work or how you dress,” Chris explains. “It has nothing to do with money, it all boils down to the belief in yourself, confidence and high self esteem.”

    CHRISTOPHER MARTIN

Born on Valentine’s Day in 1987 in Jamaica’s rural community of St. Catherine – Christopher Martin made his mark in 2005 when he won his native country’s top televised talent show competition Digicel Rising Stars. With his tremendous vocal prowess, soaring melodies and proven lyrical ability, he has consistently churned out hit after hit – including “Take My Wings,” “Giving It,” “I’ll Be Your Driver,” “Paper Loving,” “Chill Spot” and “Cheaters Prayer” – on local and international reggae charts. Over the years, Martin has worked with reggae’s premier producers including Robert Livingston of Big Yard, ZJ Chrome of Chromes label, Shane Brown of Jukeboxx Recordings and Christopher Birch.

The album already deemed a classic by music industry insiders will be released on all major digital platforms April 20th, 2015 and the physical copy on the 21st via www.MorganHeritageMusic.com

This musical endeavor is even sweeter for the siblings as it is the first project produced under their own imprint label CTBC Music (Cool To Be Conscious). The album features an array of 13 memorable tracks fusing both reggae and dancehall such as the hit single “Perform and Done, Child Of JAH” featuring Chronixx, “Put it On Me”, and “So Amazing” featuring J Boog, Jemere Morgan & award winning drummer Gil Sharone.

“This album is our most progressive album to date. We feel as if we’ve covered the full spectrum of Jamaican music and how it has influenced today’s global music industry. The root of these influences you hear come from Jamaica. Hence the title Strictly Roots.” states Mojo Morgan

Fans who have been eagerly clamoring for the “Perform and Done” video need to wait no longer as the lead single off “Strictly Roots” album will premiere on the esteemed online magazine Billboard. Produced by renowned BBC One/BBC 1Xtra’s Seani B and Don Chandler, the single became an instant success as it showcased a different side of Morgan Heritage who is renowned for their conscious and social musical commentaries. The reggae track “Perform and Done” infused with dancehall influences showcases the band’s celebrated versatility, deft vocals, clever songwriting and catchy hook.

Filmed on location at the weekly Mojito Mondays event in Kingston, Jamaica, director William Richards, managed to capture the essence of the song with a storyline reminiscent of the popular “Dancehall Queen” movie.

“This song is just an introduction to the creative approach we took with this album. Krystia Rhodes and the entire Image Development Studios team wrote a hell of treatment to highlight this creativity and the Director William Richards executed their vision perfectly. We’re really looking forward to the premier of this video.” – Morgan Heritage
