Ricardo Drue spreads Socaholism
POS, Trinidad – Ahead of Carnival 2014, Soca artiste Ricardo Drue is certainly playing his part in preventing Soca addicts around the globe from ‘kicking’ their habits, with the release of his latest offering “Socaholic”.
Produced by Mastamind Productions and written by Ricardo Drue, Herbert “Burga” Joseph and Toronto’s Dr. Jay, Socaholic’s catchy lyrics, captivating melodies and infectious rhythms paint a familiar picture of Soca music fans hopelessly hooked and hypnotized by the genre’s savoury combination of Soul and Calypso.
According to Drue, “The Term Socaholic connects with Soca lovers worldwide. Every year we listen to our favourite artistes, our favourite songs, go to our favourite fetes and even though they may be the same, artistes, songs and fetes, we embrace the experience and fall in love with it every time as if it was the very first time. It’s our addiction, it’s our passion; we are ‘Socaholics’.
The energy and presence of Socaholic has proved to be undeniable as the groovy track has already gotten into the veins of both regional and international Soca lovers.
“It is already a major hit in Antigua and it is doing well in Toronto. We have also received positive feedback from as far and Japan and Germany, so we intend to keep pushing” shared Drue.
Ricardo has previously delivered hit songs such as ‘Get To Know You’, ‘Wet Dreams’, ‘No Boring Gyal’ and ‘Nah Leaving’ and has collaborated with the likes of Soca star Patrice Roberts and Dancehall Sensation Konshens. The versatile vocalist who has become a fixture in the Antiguan Soca and Groovy Soca Monarch competitions has also been a frontline singer with top T&T outfits Roy Cape All-stars and Imij and Company.
Regardless of his wealth of experience and accomplishments, the determined and forward-thinking singer-songwriter remains humble and open to advice and future alliances on his journey towards self-development and contributing in a significant way to local and Caribbean culture.
Currently in Trinidad for promotional appearances and performances en route to Carnival 2014, Ricardo Drue expressed his love and respect to all of his fans for their support throughout his career and shared that new material and collaborations can be expected soon.
