TROPICALFETE STILTS PROGRAM

Tropicalfete’s music program focuses on teaching how to play instruments as well as educate students on the history of the musical instruments.  We seek to cover all musical genres in our program. The music program is for all ages.  The classes are either in a group setting or one-on-one. Students also have the opportunity to perform in public concerts and recitals. The goal of the music program is to provide students with a comprehensive music education encourage students to develop their musical skills and talents, promote cultural understanding and appreciation through music and provide students with the opportunity to perform in public. Tropicalfete’s music program is all about coming together to create harmony make new friends and of course learn all about musical instruments and genres. Here are the following musical instruments that we offer:

Steel Pan Classes 

Tropicalfete’s steel pan class is designed to introduce students to the steel pan, a unique and versatile instrument that is native to Trinidad and Tobago. Students will learn about the history and culture of the steel pan, as well as the basics of playing the instrument. The class will be taught by an experienced steel pan instructor who will guide students through the learning process. Students will start by learning the basics of hand technique, such as how to grip the sticks and how to strike the notes. They will then learn about the different scales and chords that can be played on the steel pan.

As students’ progress, they will learn more complex techniques, such as how to play multiple notes at once and how to improvise. They will also have the opportunity to learn about the different types of steel pans and how they are used in different musical settings.

By the end of the class, students will have a basic understanding of the steel pan and will be able to play songs. They will also have a greater appreciation for the rich culture and history of this unique instrument. 

 

 

 

Guitar Classes

 Tropicalfete’s guitar class is designed to introduce students to the guitar, a versatile and popular instrument. Students will learn the basics of playing the guitar, including how to hold the instrument, how to read music, and how to play basic chords and strumming patterns. The class will be taught by an experienced guitar instructor who will guide students through the learning process. Students will start by learning the basics of hand technique, such as how to grip the neck of the guitar and how to strum the strings. They will then learn about the different scales and chords that can be played on the guitar.

As students’ progress, they will learn more complex techniques, such as how to play finger style guitar and how to improvise. They will also have the opportunity to learn about the different types of guitars and how they are used in different musical settings.

By the end of the class, students will have a basic understanding of the guitar and will be able to play songs. They will also have a greater appreciation for the rich history and culture of this iconic instrument.

Drum Classes

Immerse yourself in the rhythmic world of percussion as we take you on a journey through diverse musical traditions and styles. Whether you’re a beginner seeking an introduction to drumming or an experienced player looking to refine your skills, our drum classes offer a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.

Discover the fundamental techniques of drumming, including proper hand and stick placement, rhythm interpretation, and coordination exercises. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the intricacies of various drumming styles such as rock, jazz, Latin, African, and more, allowing you to explore the rich tapestry of global rhythms.

In these classes, you will learn the basics, explore cultural rhythms, enhance coordination, create grooves, collaborate and perform, and express yourself.

No prior drumming experience is required – our classes cater to participants of all levels. Piano Classes

 Tropicalfete’s piano class is designed to introduce students to the piano, a versatile and popular instrument. Students will learn the basics of playing the piano, including how to read music, how to play basic chords and scales, and how to develop their own playing style.

The class will be taught by an experienced piano instructor who will guide students through the learning process. Students will start by learning the basics of hand technique, such as how to sit at the piano and how to position their hands. They will then learn about the different scales and chords that can be played on the piano.

As students’ progress, they will learn more complex techniques, such as how to play arpeggios and how to improvise. They will also have the opportunity to learn about the different types of pianos and how they are used in different musical settings.

By the end of the class, students will have a basic understanding of the piano and will be able to play songs. They will also have a greater appreciation for the rich history and culture of this iconic instrument.

Violin Classes

 Tropicalfete’s violin class is designed to introduce students to the violin, a beautiful and expressive instrument. Students will learn the basics of playing the violin, including how to hold the instrument, how to read music, and how to play basic notes and scales.

The class will be taught by an experienced violin instructor who will guide students through the learning process. Students will start by learning the basics of hand technique, such as how to hold the bow and how to position their fingers on the strings. They will then learn about the different notes and scales that can be played on the violin.

As students’ progress, they will learn more complex techniques, such as how to play vibrato and how to bow with different strokes. They will also have the opportunity to learn about the different types of violins and how they are used in different musical settings.

By the end of the class, students will have a basic understanding of the violin and will be able to play songs. They will also have a greater appreciation for the rich history and culture of this iconic instrument.

Trumpet Classes

 Tropicalfete’s trumpet class is designed to introduce students to the trumpet, a brass instrument with a bright, clear sound. Students will learn the basics of playing the trumpet, including how to hold the instrument, how to read music, and how to play basic notes and scales.

The class will be taught by an experienced trumpet instructor who will guide students through the learning process. Students will start by learning the basics of hand technique, such as how to hold the mouthpiece and how to position their fingers on the valves. They will then learn about the different notes and scales that can be played on the trumpet.

As students’ progress, they will learn more complex techniques, such as how to play different articulations and how to improvise. They will also have the opportunity to learn about the different types of trumpets and how they are used in different musical settings.

By the end of the class, students will have a basic understanding of the trumpet and will be able to play songs. They will also have a greater appreciation for the rich history and culture of this iconic instrument.

Computer Music Production Classes

 Tropicalfete’s computer music production class is designed to teach students the fundamentals of creating and organizing music with computers. Students will learn how to use digital audio workstations (DAWs) to record, edit, mix, and master music. They will also learn about the different software and hardware tools that are used in computer music production.

The class will be taught by an experienced computer music production instructor who will guide students through the learning process. Students will start by learning the basics of digital audio, such as sampling rates and bit depths. They will then learn how to use a DAW to record, edit, and mix music.

As students’ progress, they will learn more complex techniques, such as how to master music and how to use effects processors. They will also have the opportunity to learn about the different genres of electronic music and how they are produced.

By the end of the class, students will have a basic understanding of computer music production and will be able to create their own electronic music tracks. They will also have a greater appreciation for the creative and technical aspects of this rapidly evolving field.

Voice Coaching Classes

Tropicalfete’s voice coaching classes typically involve a combination of individual and group instruction. Individual instruction allows the voice coach to work with the student one-on-one to identify and address specific vocal problems. Group instruction provides the opportunity for students to learn from each other and to perform in front of a supportive audience.

Classes typically begin with a warm-up, followed by a series of vocal exercises. The exercises are designed to improve the student’s vocal technique, range, and overall performance skills. Classes may also include instruction on sight-reading, repertoire selection, and performance techniques.

Tropicalfete’s voice coaching classes offer a structured and supportive environment where individuals can develop their vocal abilities, expand their range, improve their technique, and gain confidence in their vocal skills. Our voice coaching classes can be beneficial for singers of all levels, from beginners to professionals. However, they are especially beneficial for singers who are having difficulty with their vocal technique, looking to improve their range, wanting to learn more about music theory and interested in improving their performance skills.
