Maxi Priest Has touched down in T&T to Team up with Shurwayne Winchester
Maxi Priest has touched down in T&T. The Jamaican reggae crooner who teamed up with Soca artiste, Shurwayne Winchester in 2009 for the hit single, Make It Yours is here for Shurwayne Winchester’s concert for the ladies at the National Academy for the Performing Arts in Port-of-Spain this coming Wednesday.
The show, which was originally scheduled for January 28, was re-scheduled as a result of a few technical issues that had to be ironed out however with all systems set for show night, Shurwayne says nothing will stand in the way of what will be a memorable night for those who have supported him throughout the years. Tobago-born Winchester has been a part of the Soca fraternity for over 15 years and his concert performance at NAPA will showcase a lot of the music he has delivered throughout that period. “ I’ve invited a number of other people in the business to hit the stage with me so people who really appreciate good music can come experience a great show, filled with a wide variety of entertainment,” said Shurwayne. Among the cast for the night are Kerwin Du Bois, Raymond Ramnarine of Dil-E-Nadan, Veteran Calypso queen, Calypso Rose and the Shiv Shakti dancers.
Shurwayne has promised to deliver a slate of singles both of today and yester-year. “ I know the ladies want to hear Wining Addiction, Wine On It and Work It,” he said with a laugh. Admitting that he aims to please, the artiste who has made it to the finals of the Power Soca Monarch competition this year said he will take a trip down memory lane and reflect on some of the music that has made him who he is- some of the music that many people haven’t heard him sing for quite some time. “The past three years has been all about establishing what’s current- what’s new, that being Shurwayne Winchester and Y.O.U., but it never took away from the fact that songs like Allequa, Come Beta and Don’t Stop, made me who I am today,” said Shurwayne. Acknowledging that a lot of people have been instrumental in his development as an artiste, Winchester said this event would be the perfect opportunity for him to say thanks to everyone who has stood by his side, especially the fans of his music.
The event is carded to start at 8:30pm. Persons wishing to get in on the action can obtain tickets for $150 and $200 VIP. A number of regular outlets have been advertised, among them the NAPA box office, Crosby’s St. James, Cleve’s Frederick Street, Ate Logo, Grand Bazaar along with Cache’s West Mall and Trincity. Shurwayne is promising a great night for the women of T&T and those visiting from abroad on Wednesday night. He calls on everyone to come prepared to dance and enjoy- all amid a sweet Carnival feeling he assures they will forever remember.
The Hilton Poolside fete comes just one night after the Soca Monarch 2012 Groovy and Power competitions and fans of Iwer George, Kees Dieffenthaller, K.I, and Kerwin Du Bois will have the opportunity to get up close and personal in a more intimate setting with their Soca stars.
