FANS WERE ELECTRIFIED BY META AND THE CORNERSTONES AT THE LAUNCH OF THEIR LONG AWAITED ALBUM "ANCIENT POWER!"
(New York, NY May 3, 2013): Meta and the Cornerstones wowed fans on Tuesday, April 30th during a live performance of singles from their new album Ancient Power, now available on iTunes. Their sophomore album, released the same day through VP Records, was recorded at Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston Jamaica and feature collaborations with U-Roy, Capleton and Damian Marley.
Ignited by the energy of the crowd and the excitement and anticipation surrounding the album’s release, the Band took the stage at 9:00pm and sailed through their one hour set which could have easily gone on for another hour with their impressive catalogue. Among the songs performed, fan favorites included “Mr. Jamaica,” “Cornerstone,” “Senegal,” and “Somewhere in Africa.” Fans also got a treat when the Band performed singles, “Anywhere for Love,” “Roof Top,” “My Beloved Africa,” “Bound to Glory,” “Price of Everything,” “Silence of the Moon,” “Mankind,” “Loneliest People,” “Tijahni,” “Mayan River,” and “Roaring Lions” from the album for the first time.
In addition to media, VIP guests that included Actor LEON, Representatives from the Senegalese Consulate and the French Consulate General, family, friends and fans, the raw energy of everyone present resonated Meta’ philosophy of Peace, Love and Harmony. One fan remarked, “Meta and the Cornerstones broke Le Poisson Rouge. The show was wonderfully done.” Others added, “What a great show. He is genuine Peace, Love and Harmony,” “Half man, half amazing,” “Amazing performance – a true talent.” After their performance, Meta signed copies of the album for fans and posed for pictures. It was the perfect ending to a magical night.
After a successful album launch the band will gear up for their one month European Tour which begins on May 9, 2013 with a performance at Festival Rock’n Solex in Rennes, France. The Rock’n Solex festival combines Solex racing and music and is the second largest musical event in France. In its 46th years, the festival will be held May 8 -12th.
The band will then travel to the SuperMarkt in The Hague where they will have the official European album release party for Ancient Power. Meta chose the SuperMarkt in The Hague for the official European release because it was the first venue that the band ever played in Europe. The tour will continue with performances at Festival Le Bouillon on May 16th, Afro Pfingsten Festival on May 17th, Rootstock Festival on May 18th, Petit-Bain on May 30th, Espace Malraux on May 31st, Le Tamanoir of June 1st and Afro Latino Festival on June 29th.
