3rd Annual Flatbush Film Festival At Tribeca This Saturday, December 1st
Film Lovers & Caribbean Enthusiasts! caribFILM, division of caribBEING, a boutique non-profit based in Flatbush whose mission is to “build community through the lens of Caribbean cinema and art,” presents the 3rd Annual Flatbush Film Festival: West Indian Edition. caribBEING presents 11 classic & contemporary films in 7 nights with 4 US Premieres including Ring di Alarm! (Jamaica), No Soca, No Life (Trinidad & Tobago), Cabbie Chronicles (Jamaica) and an encore presentation of the popular, I’m Santana, The Movie (Trinidad & Tobago) throughout 3 cinemas from October 25th through December 6th, 2012. The selections will be shown at Maysles, TriBeCa and Brooklyn Heights Cinemas.
On Saturday, December 1st starting at 7pm we will screen Stones in the Sun (Haiti) by Patricia Benoit which will be followed by Ring di Alarm (Jamaica) by film collective New Caribbean Cinema. The screenings will be followed by a Q&A with directors.
Each Film holds high accolades and are highly anticipated:
• Stones in the Sun premiered at the TriBeCa Film Festival and winner of Special Jury Prize for Best New Director in April, 2012
• Ring di Alarm sold out screenings at both British Film Institute (BFI) & Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival in September 2012, respectively

Synopsis: NEW YORK, the 1980s. Yannick (the writer Edwidge Danticat), a journalist, is forced to move to her sister Micheline’s home to escape the violence in their native Haiti. Ronald and Vita, a married couple, have also fled the country. And Gerald, a political activist, gets an unwelcomed visit from his father, who was an enforcer with the Duvalier regime. All six must learn to heal from the trauma of the past in this poignant, haunting film.
