Trinidad and Tobago continues to shine at ITB 2015
PORT-OF-SPAIN, TRINIDAD – Trinidad and Tobago kicked off day two of their participation at ITB with a press conference updating the German media about the diverse product offerings of the destination. In attendance and addressing the media at the ITB Convention in Berlin were Keith Chin, Chief Executive Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Development Company Limited (TDC); Assemblyman Tracy Davidson-Celestine, Secretary for Tourism and Transportation in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) and Mr. Keith Diaz, President of Pan Trinbago.
Both Chin and Davidson-Celestine gave an overview of the destination with Chin placing emphasis on the opportunities for business tourism in Trinidad, the TDC’s continued thrust towards building a sustainable tourism product where he referenced the recent Blue Flag award to Las Cuevas and our position as a leader in Sports tourism in the region with the scheduled opening of the new sporting centres.
Davidson-Celestine introduced a new product offering in Tobago, a canopy tour geared towards those visitors who have an interest in adventure and eco -tourism. The tour will give visitors the opportunity to use thirteen lines to zip through the Western Hemisphere’s oldest protected rainforest. Another attraction highlighted is the sunken relics in the Port of Scarborough, reminiscent of Tobago’s rich historical past, which will soon be converted into an in land and underwater museum.
Pan and the upcoming International Conference on Panorama was also featured by Mr. Keith Diaz. President of Pan Trinbago who gave an introduction on the only national instrument to be invented in the 20th century and updates on the conference scheduled for August 4th- 9th, 2015 in Trinidad and Tobago.
The delegation continues to profile Trinidad and Tobago as a premier destination of choice and held a number of successful meetings with a number of tour operators, travel agents and airlines interested in doing business with the destination.
Closing off the day, both Mr. Chin and Assemblyman Celestine accepted an award on behalf of the destination from FTI, one of the major tour operators in Germany for the Most Diverse Holiday Destination in the Caribbean.
Commenting on the award, Keith Chin, CEO of TDC said, “The work of both the TDC and the THA in making Trinidad and Tobago a desired destination is bearing fruit and we continue to work towards greater achievements for the destination.”
