The Legendary Wailers Perform on Good Day New York Before Benefit Show Tomorrow June 6th in New York City
The Wailers will be featured on Good Day New York tomorrow morning, June 6th, 2013, with an exclusive interview and live performance with hosts Rosanna Scotto and Greg Kelly. At night, The Wailers will then perform at the 8th Annual Voices Against Brain Cancer “Sounding Off For A Cure” benefit concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan. Doors open at 6:00 PM.
Since their original formation in 1969 with Bob Marley, The Wailers have always used their music and voices to do good and spread peace-loving vibes across the globe. Revolutionaries at heart, The Wailers have consistently involved themselves in everything from human rights campaigns to political unification movements. One key example is their involvement in the World Food Programme. The World Food Programme is directly combating hunger by giving hundreds of thousands of people access to the nourishment they need to survive. The Wailers have participated in the initiative by donating hospitality riders provided by their venues, raising money at concerts for the cause, and doing site visits. They’ve also organized shows specifically in benefit of the World Food Programme.
“Music can really help bring about change. It’s a beautiful thing,” stated Aston “Family Man” Barrett on The Wailers’ enthusiasm for giving back to the community.
Voices Against Brain Cancer, the force behind “Sounding Off For A Cure”, is dedicated to raising awareness and money for individuals with brain cancer, and their families. Proceeds from the benefit concert will go towards brain cancer research and giving patients, families and caregivers the hope and support they need, when they need it most. The event will include live performances, as well as appearances by celebrity guests and food and drinks from designated NYC restaurants. Inspirational members of the brain cancer research community, as well as some notable survivors of brain cancer, will be honored with respect at the charitable gala of music. “Sounding Off For A Cure” reveals the true power of music in bringing people together to make a difference. And The Wailers do just that. They inspire and unite people through their positivity and altruistic spirit. Due to Bob Marley’s life-ending battle with cancer, The Wailers feel especially passionate about their participation with Voices Against Brain Cancer.
Still today, The Wailers are not only great musicians, but change-agents, and advocates of wakefulness and human livelihood. Their songs contain the ability to connect people on a profound level and soothe the soul. The Wailers embody the archetype of the ‘conscious rock band’, one set on not only instigating change, but also instigating musical, social, and political shifts in perception.
