Spanner Banner Declares 'Love Is A Champion'
New York, USA – Spanner Banner is generating a new buzz in the reggae market with the single, ‘Love Is Champion’, which has been getting favorable airplay on local radio. He started out the year 2014 with a bang with a brilliant performance at this year’s Rebel Salute 2014.
“The single is doing well on radio especially in Canada and St. Maarten, and with the release of the video, people rate the video, they are excited about it,” he said. He is working on an EP which will feature seven tracks including ‘Love is a Champion’. This will be his first major release of recorded material since 2009. “Time is of the essence when it comes to dedicating time towards an album. I had been busy doing other things, and I never got the time to do it the right way. I want it to be special, now is the time to do it, cause I wanted it to be very special. I have been writing and getting the right producers for the project,” he said.
His last full length project “I’m A Winner” released in 2009, was chock full of musical gems such as Rolling Stones, Solid As A Rock, One Love, She Groove Me and the title track, “I’m A Winner”. The album was produced by his family label Bonner Cornerstone Music, along with producers such as Don Carleone, Donovan Germaine and Kemar ‘Flava’ McGregor.
After more than two decades, Spanner Banner’s music is still potent. His unmistakable sound has mellowed over the years like fine wine. Due to his consistent great music, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award in March 2013 at the Linkage Awards held in New York City for his 1989 single ‘Life Goes On’. He was awarded alongside the likes of Bunny Wailer, John Holt, Sanchez and other reggae music stars.
He is a member of the talented Bonner brothers which includes Pliers (of Chaka Demus & Pliers fame), Richie Spice and Snatcha.
