SINGER RICHIE STEPHENS DOUBLE AWARD WINNER IN THE TRI-STATE
International reggae singer Richie Stephens pocketed two awards – a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the Caribbean New Jersey Reggae Awards and a “Cultural Ambassador Award” from the Comets Athletics Club, New York chapter – to add to the four awards he has already received since the start of 2012.
Among the awards he has copped for 2012 – “Song of the Year Award” for “Live Your Life” from Irie Jam Radio, NY (January); an ‘Achievement Award’ at the 16th annual Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival in Trelawny (February); a “Lifetime Achievement Award” and “Song of the Year” at this year’s Linkage Awards in New York (March).
“It is a tremendous feeling of accomplishment to be recognized for my work as a singer, songwriter and producers over the last twenty seven years. 2012 has been a great year for me. I have released some of my best work ever. I have been blessed with a special gift from the father and I plan to continue to do his work” an emotional Stephens said soon after collecting his award in New Jersey.
Other award recipients in New Jersey were Ras Emmanuel who won the “NJ DJ of the Year award” and singer Dr Love you pocketed the “NJ Singer of the Year Award.”
Soon after collecting his “Lifetime Achievement Award” in NJ, Stephens gave fans a treat, delivering a riveting 30 minutes performance that included heartfelt renditions of “Live Your Life” and the “Gospel Medley” that had patrons on their feet dancing. Dr Love also performed two songs that went over well with patrons.
Stephens will release a collaboration album later this year, that will feature songs by Platinum selling Germany reggae artiste Gentleman and a 12 track gospel album on the VP Records imprint.
