Reggae Star Cali P has teamed with long time producer and collaborator, Teka for their newest project entitled Vizion I. The project, which is being hailed as a success, combines the genres Reggae and Trap, putting the duo on the forefront for new fans.
Vizion I is 4 tracks of the 12 tracks recorded with this new sound. The additional 8 tracks will be released over time, making the project a unique 3-volume offering for fans to enjoy.
Recorded in Berlin, Germany, and produced by LowLow Records, Vizion I (pronounced Vision 1) is a 4-track EP which showcases what the duo think is the future sound of combined genres. The lead single, which was officially released November 30th; “Baddest” features a rich bass line and hears Cali P flow in a manner familiar to that of a Trap artist. The artist says: “drop it / wild like / Shabba / powerful and mad like Cobra / Supa Cat dih real Don Dadda / ba-ba-ba badda mih look up to Buju ….”
When asked about that particular lyrical choice, Cali P told media “some of my fans from Atlanta, where Trap started, don’t know who our ‘baddest’ OG artists are. These lyrics help them understand a piece of how Reggae got to where it is. For Reggae fans who know the history, they’ll appreciate the flow on a Trap beat.”
For Producer Teka who has worked on the artistes first set of releases in 2005, this project was especially important. He says “this is the worlds first official introduction to both genres as one, we had to get it right so we took two years to perfect the sound and pen the right lyrics. The feedback so far has been very positive.”
Vizion I is officially available on all digital retail outlets on Friday January 11th, 2019. The official music video for “Baddest” is streaming on YouTube:
