Powerful Sound Taking Over Jamaican Airways

Warren Whyte, more popularly known as Turban X have been getting steady radio rotation in Jamaica with his latest single entitled “Jah Love”. The song, which he not only sang on but also produced, talks about the oppression of poor people and the power of God’s love.

Turban X, who hails from the parish of St. Andrew, grew up as one of ten children. With such a large family, the struggles of life were eminent, but the only thing that had kept him going was the sweet sound of reggae music. Turban’s mother, even though she didn’t have much to give her children, gave them all she had, God. His mother would ensure that the children went to church and afterwards she would quiz them on bible verses, which they would have learnt and would have to repeat on a daily basis.

A confirmation of his destiny came at the age of twelve when Turban’s older brother sneaked him out of the house to an open mic stage show and coached him on how to perform for an audience. With a little encouragement from the crowd he gained confidence and boldly belted out his song as the crowd cheered on. Since then Turban has performed in several venues sharing the stage with top reggae artists, such as John Holt, Ernie Smith, Bushman, Brigadier Jerry and Beenie Man, and that’s just to name a few. His musical influences include several reggae icons as well as artists from other genres. Some names worth mentioning are The Manhattans, Sam Cooke, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

Turban X is currently working on his upcoming album of which “Jah Love” is the first single. Persons can listen this song by clicking on the following link:
