Differentology Tops Tropicalfete Music Chart for the Year / Richie Richards Award of Excellence 2013

Tropicalfete Inc. has once again held its annual event dubbed Top 100 Caribbean Music Count-down and Award of Excellence on December 05, 2013 at the Negril Village. The Tropicalfete family, friends, Dee Jays, sponsors and fans were present to enjoy a great atmosphere of entertainment. The event was graced with the presence of royalties in the persons of Miss Stephanie Marie Miles – Miss Caribbean, and Miss Colette Stapleton – Miss Caribbean USA Talent and Mariel King, former Miss Tropical Paradise International.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Award of Excellence – Miss Colette Stapleton had the honor of presenting that prestigious award to a humble Mr. Richie Richardson. Mr. Richardson comes from a third generation artist family. His father, Mr. Carlton Richardson, was his original influence for becoming a designer, as he gained prominence in Trinidad and Tobago as an artist. This had a positive effect on young Richie. An added inspiration to Richie was also Mr. Carlyle Chang . . . Mr. Chang is considered the Van Gogh of Caribbean artist for works he exhibited on an international level, where he presented Carnival and folkloric traditions of Trinidad and Tobago through art. From art to fashion to carnival to the theater, Richie demonstrates extraordinary versatility with a creative impact that is on the cutting edge of creative appeal. What he started more than twenty-five years ago in Trinidad, has blossomed, bloomed and although crystallized here, transcends time with works of beauty, poise and grace.

Tropicalfete’s Award of Excellence honors the accomplishments & contributions of persons and/or organizations that have played a significant role in the development of the Caribbean Community. The achievement of the awardees is significant on an international level where their work had a positive impact to the Caribbean community in the areas of cultural, social, sporting or economic activities.
The top songs for the year were played by DJ Best and Colossal Sounds. The chart cover songs in of the genres soca, reggae, dancehall, zouk, kompa, R&B, Latin, pop, calypso and reggaeton. Ian ‘Bunji Garlin’ Alvarez – Differentology was Tropicalfete inc song for the year adding the number accolades that the song has received since its release for Trinidad Carnival 2013.

Tropicalfete Inc. prides its reputation on paying respect to the artistes and/or cultural activists that passed away during the year and also by honoring an artiste, cultural activist or organization who has made a significant contribution toward the development of the arts, culture, etc of the Caribbean onthe global scene.

Tropicalfete matches in 2014 with dozens of programs for the year. The public can look forward to a free dance and theatre program with the NYC Parks and Recreation Department in January called Tropicalfete Body of Vibration Song and Dance. On March 22 Tropicalfete will be partnering with the VH1 Save The Music Family Day to highlight the steel pan instrument with panist Ricardo Greenaway and vocalist Keran “Fimber” Deterville.
