RDX for AGD Concert
On Thursday September 26, the Caribbean will once again celebrate the boldness, vision and legacy of Guinness® founder Sir Arthur Guinness when it joins in the global celebration of the fifth Arthur Guinness Day (AGD).
On Thursday, the world pays homage to the founder of the world’s number one stout with a grand music celebration featuring some of the world’s best performers across global music genres. In Kingston, Jamaica, some of the Caribbean’s best artistes from Reggae, Soca and Dancehall will converge at the National Indoor Sports Centre. This year Caribbean music stalwarts in I-Octane, Tarrus Riley, Bunji Garlin & Fay-Ann Lyons, Aidonia and Busy Signal will unite the Caribbean through music in memory of Sir Arthur.
While the AGD concert will be held in Jamaica, there will be a live simulcast to approximately 1 million viewers across the Caribbean including Saint Lucia, giving consumers the opportunity to enjoy a remarkable event from their homes as well as bars, restaurants and pubs. The event will be streamed “live” in Saint Lucia by DBS TV and Blazin FM.
Arthur Guinness Day is a global event with musical performances in 55 countries, including Ireland, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Malaysia, France, Spain, Italy, Australia as well as the Caribbean. The day has been celebrated since 2009 to mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the lease at the St. James’ Gate Brewery in Dublin, Ireland.
As part of this year’s AGD celebration, Guinness will be identifying and rewarding five social entrepreneurs who have dedicated themselves to improving the lives of others. The Arthur Guinness Fund (AGF) was also established in 2009 by Guinness to continue Sir Arthur’s legacy of corporate philanthropy.
And whilst AGD festivities may come to a halt by Friday morning in most parts of the world, here in Saint Lucia the celebration continues on Sunday September 29 with a major AGD concert at Fond D’or Dennery. There, Jamaican dancehall sensations RDX will take to the stage alongside a number of Saint Lucian performers and DJ’s.
RDX is well known in dancehall and entertainment circles for their hits “Dance,” “Everybody dance,” “Daggering”, “Skip”, “Turn Your Swag Up”, “Bend Ova”, and “Dancers Anthem”. They continued to reap success in 2012-2013 with hits like “Jump”, “Broad Out” and “Kotch” that have become popular with Saint Lucian fans.
Also taking to the AGD concert stage on Sunday will be Alley Cat, General Bakes, Soca bandit and DYP as well as the 2013 Green Synergy champion DJ Yellow and Levi Chin.
