THE UK BASED REGGAE ARTIST THAT’S TAKING THE INDUSTRY
Since the start of 2011 the name Scratchylus have been appearing everywhere. On radio play list, show line up, on blogs, in magazines etc. And this is not just in Jamaica, but on the international scene as well. He has had TV and Radio coverage in the UK, Germany, Gambia, Jamaica and several other countries.
Scratchylus started making music in London U.K in the late 1990’s. The desire came from performing on well-known sound systems such as Java, Nuclear, Powa, Diamonds, a Girls Best Friend, and One Love System. It was while working with all these sounds that he was introduced to laying vocals in a recording studio.
His creative inspiration comes from artists such as Dennis Brown, Sizzla, Pinchers and Papa San. But his overall inspiration is undoubtedly from His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie, someone for whom he has the highest regard. Painted throughout his music is his adoration for the Rastafarian way of life and religion.
Over the years, Scratchylus has put in the work and is just now starting to enjoy some of the fruits of his labor. He has met and had an audience with the President of Gambia, His Excellency President Yaya Jammeh and His Ministers. He has graced the stage with the likes of Luciano, Mikey General and other well-established artists, performing for well over 35,000 fans.
And even with all his past accomplishments, Scratchylus does not intend to slow down any time soon. He always try to make a point of visiting schools, specifically, colleges and universities to encourage the students to stay on the right path. His singles, ‘I HEAR THE CHIDREN CRY’ and ‘RESET THE MINDSET’ always goes down well with students of all ages. Additionally, he is busy putting the final touches on his soon to be released album, entitled, “Real Time Lyrics For the Play list”.
Scratchylus and his management team are putting plans in place for his CD launch, which will be held in Kingston Jamaica before the end of the year.
