CAL designated official carrier for Caribbean Week in New York

The Trinidad & Tobago-based carrier, Caribbean Airlines (CAL), has been named the official airline for Caribbean Week in New York. The airline has begun a relationship with the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), organizers of Caribbean Week in New York, which saw CAL designated the official carrier of the event, CTO’s director of marketing for the Americas, Sylma Brown, revealed.
“Caribbean Airlines has been working to strengthen its relationship with CTO and its support for Caribbean Week in New York is the beginning of this new relationship,” Ms Brown said.
As the official airline, CAL is facilitating transportation of delegates, including the media, to the event. It is expected that the relationship will extend beyond Caribbean Week to include future CTO events, including next year’s sustainable tourism conference.
“We are holding STC-14 in Trinidad and Tobago next year, which gives us yet another opportunity to work closely with Caribbean Airlines and strengthen the relationship even further,” Ms. Brown added.
Senior Marketing Manager Caribbean Airlines , Alicia Cabrera said: “The Caribbean Experience begins as soon as you step on board and we are happy to partner with the CTO whose vision is tantamount with our airline as we both promote the added value of the Caribbean product in New York to the diaspora and leisure markets.”
This is the first time that a major airline has aligned itself with Caribbean Week in this manner, by becoming a leading sponsor of the event. Other main Caribbean Week sponsors include Trinidad and Tobago and the Tobago House of Assembly –both coming aboard as sponsors for the first time; the Islands if the Bahamas, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Brides, World Travel Market and World Travel Market Latin America and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
“We are thankful to our partners for supporting the CTO and its events like Caribbean Week in New York, even in these difficult economic times,” the director of marketing added.
