Terry Seales – Driftin (2016 Soca)

Terry Seales resurrects the true spirit of Power Soca with the release of his 2016 road anthem “Driftin”.

“Driftin'” is a throwback to the classic Road March sound of the 90’s with its trademark horns and double time drum cadence. The track, however, strikes the right balance with producer Marlon Roach’s modern approach and Seales’ vocal delivery completing the elements of a contemporary soca hit.

“We are losing that breakaway freedom that Carnival is really supposed to be about. Everyone seems to be more interested in how they look, creating social media posts and sharing them than just enjoying themselves in the moment. Driftin’ demands that you live in the moment,” the St Ann’s based singer said of the project.

The song, which was written by Seales and Jean-Paul “President” Douglas and mixed and mastered by Neil Bernard, is already being declared a Soca Monarch title contender by music industry insiders. Seales, however, is keeping grounded and adopting a “one day at a time” approach as far as his expectations.

“My focus has always been to create music I believe in. This is no different. But I must admit it’s heartening to have your creative work embraced so organically. My PR and Marketing has not even started and the people already love it. Give thanks,” Seales said.

The former New Creation crooner said he will let the people decide if he should enter the song in any competitions. In the meantime he remains focused on creating more music.

“I’m back in the creative zone where we never stop working. There is always a new melody coming to mind. A new riddim to listen to or a collaboration to be made, music for me is 24/7 365 days a year.
