It is like taking a trip to the Caribbean without ever leaving New York, as families roam the festival and enjoy its many features and eat exotic foods. One of the highlights includes the Celebrity Jerk Cook-off, where top chefs and celebrities compete as well as perform cooking demonstrations. There will also be a Caribbean Cultural Stage featuring traditional oral and folk performances, The Kids Zone (a family favorite for kids of all ages) including rides, storytellers and face painting and The Corporate Row offering samples and give-aways from event sponsors. A concert on the main stage will close the day, featuring performances from Maxi Priest, Etana, Mr. Vegas, Major D and comedian Chris “Johnny” Daley among others.

Building on the success of last year’s festival, which attracted some 16,000 satisfied patrons, co-producers Jamaican Jerk Festival U.S.A. Inc. & VP Records are committed to providing more food, fun and family activities at the event. Organizers have also made changes, utilizing a larger area of the park to accommodate the over 20,000 patrons expected to attend this year’s festival. The number of food vendors has been increased, offering a wide variety of delicious jerk cuisine as well as popular Caribbean dishes to tickle the palate of the curious and satisfy the less adventurous foodie.
