  • Vibez Productionz Brings Saint Lucian Music Worldwide

Saint Lucian hit house Vibez Productionz hits hard this year by releasing three compilations internationally with the Breakfast Fete Riddim (released May 27, 2016), Vestige 758 Riddim (released June 10, 2016), and Island Vibez Riddim (released January 22, 2016), from FOX FUSE. Based in Castries, Saint Lucia, Vibez Productionz is helmed by producer Miguel “Migz” Joseph, who has been crafting hits and highlighting Saint Lucian talent for over six years now.

Cutting his musical chops as a high school student, Migz was a steel pan player and member of the prestigious Diamond Steel Orchestra, which allowed him to participate in national panorama competitions and perform at various tourist resorts and hotels around Saint Lucia. This led to his first job as the lead pannist at a local resort, while he continued to pursue a musical education. He has since built a career as a primary school music teacher – a position he still currently holds, molding the musical minds of Saint Lucia’s next generation. During his time working as a pannist, a fellow band member introduced him to music production software FruityLoops, and with his extensive musical background and unbridled talent, Vibez Productionz was born.

Now a top producer in Saint Lucia, Migz has his fingers on the pulse of local music and artists, and is determined to spread the unique sounds of Saint Lucian music, all across the world. “I believe the mindset of every producer, writer and artist is to get their music out domestically, regionally and then internationally,” discloses Migz. “I just want to do my best and play my part in helping Saint Lucian music get made and get it out to the worldwide masses, so they can enjoy our culture and music too.” Having inked an exclusive digital distribution deal with FOX FUSE – the world’s largest digital label for soca and chutney music, Migz is already accomplishing his ambitious mission.

The brand new Breakfast Fete Riddim serves up three groovy soca songs with “Colliding” by Mysterio, “J.U.M.P. (Jump Up My People)” by Shemmy J and “Liquor Head” by Imran Nerdy. The tracks are enjoying heavy radio play on the island nation and have already become fan favorites at the 2016 Lucian Carnival season, which is currently underway through July.“I was inspired to compose this after attending an actual breakfast fete last year, and just the atmosphere of the fete made me want to recreate that vibe through music,” says Migz. “I hope it will be on every DJ’s playlist and in people’s cars, and also play during and after the carnival season.”

The Island Vibez Riddim and Vestige 758 Riddim were both crafted and released locally for the 2015 Lucian Carnival season, where they dominated the festival scene and solidified Vibez Productionz as a major hit factory in Saint Lucia. Both compilations now make their international debut, with the Vestige 758 Riddim delivering eight vintage-styled, groovy soca tunes for audiences everywhere to enjoy. The classic calypso-flavored rhythm brings crowd favorites from Imran Nerdy, Sedale, Toya, Shemmy J, Arthur and WiLDFiRE. “I tried to fuse the vintage vibe with the new era, where the riddim has that vintage feel and the artists deliver a new style with their melodies and lyrics,” Migz reveals.

The sizzling Island Vibez Riddim features seven up-tempo, groovy gems, including the massive hit “Neighbour” by local star Sedale. The breakout jam was featured on the acclaimed compilation Get Soca 2016, which charted at #7 on Billboard (Top Reggae Albums chart for week of March 12, 2016),cementing Joseph as a Billboard chart-topping producer. Crowd favorites from Mysterio, Imran Nerdy, Shemmy J, Toya and D’Sean round out the album.

“We’re thrilled to work with Miguel ‘Migz’ Joseph and Vibez Productionz to bring Saint Lucian music and local artists to the international market,” states Rhona Fox, co-owner of FOX FUSE. “It’s very satisfying to see the studio and local talents prosper, and also to have helped Migz become a Billboard chart-topping producer. We look forward to being a key part of his prolific journey, as he continues to build hits and spread Saint Lucian music beyond its borders.”

  • Reggae Recording Artist ORieL and his Band Detained by Police Ahead of Performance

Pittsburgh, PA (MPR Consulting) – An unfortunate familiar scene took place over Memorial weekend at the annual Kaya Fest in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania when reggae recording artist ORieL and his bandmate were detained by Pittsburgh PD for suspicion of Marijuana possession.

The humble artist scheduled performance to an eager crowd was delayed after an officer reported smelling marijuana, and called for backup. Speaking on the incident, ORieL stated “We were briefly detained for smoking a spliff in the tour van. I asked the officer why he was drawing his firearm, because we were doing as he asked, our hands were up, and the spliff was put out. “Why use a cannon to kill a mosquito ?” Why not work out an amicable solution? His approach is the reason that many situations like this end up with people getting injured for no reason.

The artist added “Music and herb go together, society knows this. The idea that cannabis makes you hostile, etc etc is an outdated concept in this modern society. Many a prison and policing budget depend on keeping the status quo. Thats one thing, but the bigger issue is the approach and how police deal with us on a day to day basis.

With the utmost respect for the law, this hasn’t dithered ORieL’s respect for those who take the oath to protect and serve. “I support officers who are maintaining and providing protection to the people, not bullies with badges and guns. The motto of the police force is to protect and serve, and we need more officers who aim to uphold their pledge to society and not the ones intending to stroke their own egos by misusing and abusing their power. People don’t trust the police, and situations like this only perpetuate an already broken system.  We need to find new ways of policing that can transform. You cannot continue to do the same things and expect different results, you cannot arrest or ticket your way out of prohibition. Musicians, painters, nurses, patients all sort of people perform the age old tradition of burning a spliff and that is never going to stop.

Despite the delays, the vibes were in full effect and ORieL delivered a memorable performance to an audience of every race, creed and class who were all united by music.

Wishing to move past the events of the night, ORieL lastly added “The police need to develop a more open mindset and approach unique situations with the same humility and respect that we show to them.  Excessive use of power in these situations not only damages the relationship between the police and the community, but is a waste of resources. We need people power to move towards a more community-based method of policing. Way up.” – ORieL

Spearheaded by Linval ‘Shem’ Brown, Oriel ‘ORieL’ Barry and Michael Wilson, Afar Music Group comprised of acclaimed label and concert promotional company proudly stands by their ‘Music Is The Mission” motto . • LATIN SOCA CROSSOVER STAR MR. RENZO DEBUTS MUSIC WORLDWIDE

Latin Soca Crossover Star Mr. Renzo Debuts Music Worldwide

New York, NY (FOX FUSE) – Latin soca crossover star Mr. Renzo sees the debut of all his official music videos on VEVO, including the brand-new red-hot video for “Drop Dat,” which joins “Colita (Remix)” featuring Neniita and Charly Black, and “Colita” featuring Neniita, all from FOX FUSE. Inking an exclusive digital distribution deal with FOX FUSE – the world’s largest digital label for soca and chutney music, Mr. Renzo’s catalog of music and videos are now available worldwide from all major digital retailers.

Born Lawrence Adams in Bolívar, Venezuela, this exciting and eclectic singer and songwriter relocated to Trinidad and Tobago as a child, and has been performing since the age of eight, before professionally launching his international career at 21. His diverse heritage translates into his music today, as he nurtures an unprecedented legacy of Spanish-Caribbean fusion, mixing tropical and salsa music with soca, calypso, dancehall and EDM, to create his own unique, international sound.

“Following the successes of my recent songs such as ‘Bend Ya Back,’ ‘Jiggle,’ ‘Colita (Remix)’ and ‘Colita,’ I’m thrilled to debut ‘Drop Dat’ on VEVO and share it with fans internationally,” reveals Mr. Renzo. “This brand new video for ‘Drop Dat’ has been creating some buzz in the UK market already, and now its official launch on my VEVO channel takes it to the next level, worldwide.” The provocative video for “Drop Dat” was filmed on location in Trinidad and was directed by Jameel Bellerand. The steamy track was produced by Anson Soverall for Forward Movement Music Group (now Anson Productions), and is also available worldwide from FOX FUSE.

“Right now our plan is to continue promoting my music in the Latin market, especially after seeing the success of Charly Black, Sean Paul and Shaggy opening the doors for Caribbean music in the Latin circle,” Mr. Renzo adds. “The people in the Latin community are very open to my style, which is being a Latin soca crossover artist. We received an amazing response in Colombia from my recent three-month tour there, and we plan to continue to market my music in other Latin countries, in the coming months.” This consistent approach of fusing flavors to satisfy a kaleidoscope of genres and tastes proves Mr Renzo’s international appeal, thereby guaranteeing his music its rightful place – within the ears of fans, globally.
