Duane Stephenson to Celebrate Bob Marley’s Birthday
in Little Rock, Arkansas!
Friday January 23rd, 2015 – Kingston, Jamaica
Billboard recording artist Duane Stephenson will celebrate Bob Marley’s Birthday in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 7th, 2015 at the 8th annual Bob Marley Birthday Bash.
Continuing the legacy created by Bob of performing uplifting music, Duane will perform songs from his first and second albums August Town and Ghetto Pain, as well as his newly released Billboard charted album Dangerously Roots. Songs such as “August Town” and “Ghetto Pain,” tell stories of hardship, and offer hope to overcome those hardships while songs like “Rasta For I” (from the album Dangerously Roots) speaks of faith, and the mountains that can be moved if we believe. These lyrical techniques are similar to the delivery style of Bob Marley.
Marley reached international fame and acclaim because of his distinctive songwriting and vocal style that resonated with audiences. His albums have sold a cumulative 75 million and continue to sell though he has passed on. He is one of the world’s best selling artists of all time with albums Exodus, Survival and Uprising amongst favorites by fans. Committed to Rastafari, Bob infused his music with spirituality.
Speaking from his recording studio in August Town to fans in Little Rock, Duane says “Bob Marley stood for the advancement and fair treatment of all people which is the Rastafarian way, and the way I believe everyone should be towards one another. I am greatly looking forward to upholding that message through my music to the people of Little Rock.” Some of Duane’s favorite Bob Marley songs are “Exodus,” “Redemption Song” and “Africa Unite” which fans may hear the artist sing Acapella.
The annual celebration, which honors the Reggae legend and Icon, will be held on February 7th, 2015 at the Rev Room in the heart of the River Market district. Doors open at 8pm. The year to year event is produced by One Love and Canman Entertainment and will also feature performances by Tim Anthony, Butterfly, Tricia Reed, and more. Duane will be backed by Yard Squad Band from St. Louis, Missouri.
