    TENZA

Hailing from Kempshot of Montego Bay Jamaica, Tenza A.K.A The Bosslady is a musical angel in disguise. Born and raised in a family of fifteen, which consisted of nine brothers and Five sisters, she grew up in a life of struggle and disappointment so she certainly knows how to appreciate all of her blessings that she has been given and her musical talent was definitely one of those blessings not taken for granted.

Tenza left Jamaica when she was only fourteen to reside in the UK, in the town of Slough. For Tenza it was a difficult time leaving all her friends and family to begin a whole new life in England. At first, she found it hard adjusting to the new culture especially in school. As time went by Tenza made new friends when she started to attend the slough youth center music classes. Tenza then felt at home as she now found her joy, which is music.

    BRAMMA

When he first emerged on the local Dancehall music scene back in 2004 he was still in school and called him self ‘Sinister.’ He was introduced by a close friend to an industry personnel to “make things happen”, but he was still in school about to sit his final year exams. He was advised to “finish up, complete the exams and return” he did just that and more determined than he ever was.

Lloyd Brammer grew up in Maxfield Gardens, one of Kingston’s toughest communities. He attended one of Kingston’s prominent traditional schools, Calabar High. There Brammer spent much of his spare time entertaining his school mates free styling to rhythmic sounds they created from hitting the top of a desk with the hand. One of his very good friend at school who believed in him and lived within close proximity of the home/office of one leading entertainment companies in Kingston where artistes such as Bounty Killer his then role model, spent most of his days, took him to meet Bounty Killer. Brammer wanted a piece of the Dancehall entitlement, he wanted a break and this would have been his very first meaningful effort. Visiting the offices of Solid Agency where he hoped to meet the head of that company, Bramma instead met Ms. Sharon Burke’s Assistant, Sophia McKay.

  • LMB Designs hit the Guianas

LBM DESIGNS DAZZLE THE FASHION WEEKS IN THE GUIANAS!

Lyn Bristol - LBM Designs 1

Lyn Bristol of LBM Designs, St. Lucia, has returned from the Guianas where she showcased her resort wear line, both in “Guyane Fashion Week” and “Suriname Fashion Week” 2014.

She first went to Cayenne (French Guiana) attending the ‘Guyane Fashion Week 2014’. This budding designer was the specially invited by producer, Jean René Pologne with all expenses paid. She was enthralled to also meet with fellow friend and supporter St. Lucian, Vincent Mc Doom who was also a special invited guest to this event.

While in Cayenne, Lyn participated in all three fashion nights held in various venues and was well received on each of the nights. She had the pleasurable experience to network with fellow designers from Martinique, Paris and French African countries, also models and photographers of Cayenne. Her designs were also used in a fashion shoot which was staged around the city of Cayennne.

One of the highlights of her trip to Cayenne, was when she accompanied Mr. Mc Doom to the Lycée Melkior Garré which boasts a fashion and style department. She was honored to meet and be in the presence of the President of French Guiana who led the entourage on the visit alongside Alphadi a.k.a. ‘Magician of the Desert’, the top fashion designer of Niger, Africa. At the Lycée Melkior Garré the President addressed the students on the importance of their school in the French Departments including the Caribbean Region. Addresses were also made by Vincent McDoom and Alphadi and Lyn Bristol was also invited to give a short speech to the gathering.

After this impressive stint in French Guiana, it was off to Paramaribo, Suriname (Dutch Guiana) for ‘Suriname Fashion Week’ where the actual fashion shows were held for three nights at the Wyndham Hotel and one night at the Ramada Rooftop Inn.

Suriname featured designers of clothing, jewelery and accessories not only from Suriname, but also from Cayenne, South Africa, Holland, Martinique and LBM Designs being the only one from St Lucia. Suriname Fashion Week was far more hectic than Cayenne, in that there were more designers and models to cope with. Similarly to the ‘Guyane Fashion Week’, her garments were chosen for a fashion shoot at an outdoor, historical museum.

As was with Cayenne, Lyn networked with Surinamese and international fashion designers, photographers, and models. From this experience, two designers have commissioned Lyn to hand paint their fabrics for their collections; she has been invited back to Suriname and Cayenne next year to attend their fashion weeks. Both models and designers alike have expressed an interest to visit Saint Lucia to explore the fashion scene after interacting with Lyn Bristol of LBM Designs who was an ambassador for her country.

Lyn takes this opportunity to thank the following persons for their assistance in making it possible to attend these two important fashion events: her mother, J E Bergasse & Company Limited, and Adrian Augier; for media coverage, Jackie Cherebin-Weekes, Sharon Williams-Black and Stan Bishop (in their own rights). Included are, from Cayenne, Mr Jean René ‘JR’Pologne; her Surinamese counterparts, of Suriname Fashion Week : Warda Marica (executive producer and jeweler), Helio Phoeli (producer and photographer), and Charelle Meyers (assistant producer).

Antiguan film, The Skin makes its UK debut

    Skin

LONDON, UK – The Skin by HAMAFilms will make history this week becoming the first feature film from Antigua & Barbuda to be screened in the United Kingdom, when it premieres on Thursday, December 18, 2014.

Filmed on location in Antigua & Barbuda, The Skin, which stars UK actor Jeff Stewart and the legendary Jamaican actor Carl Bradshaw will premiere at GATE Picture House in Notting Hill, London at 6pm.

Ron Belgrave, Head of Sankofa Televisual, which has the rights to distribute the movie in the UK, Europe, Asia, Middle East, Australasia and Africa said he was “thrilled to have The Skin as part of this newest Caribbean film series in London.

“The story is wonderfully, made and a joy to watch but also brings out an alternative side of the Caribbean, steeped in cultural references, that we rarely explore. And with notable actors like Jeff Stewart and the legendary Carl Bradshaw it will be a treat for UK audiences,” said Belgrave.

The Skin tells the story of a young couple played by Aisha Ralph and Brent Simon, who are about to lose their home when Michael (Simon) discovers an ancient vase and sells it to an antique dealer. There is little time to celebrate when strange things begin to happen and a Jamaican mystic (Bradshaw) tells them the ancient relic is not a blessing but a curse.

“The UK market is one we were always keen on, especially reaching Caribbean audiences,” says Writer/Director Howard Allen. “We took more risks with this fourth project but they have paid off. Bringing in Professor Torianno Berry as the Director of Photography allowed me to focus on directing and telling the story the way I wanted to. We were also able to make good on a longtime dream to work with Carl Bradshaw. Having Jeff Stewart and Peter Williams on our cast helped HAMA to tell An Antiguan story with international flare.”

“The film has been shown in LA, Washington, Toronto, Atlanta, New York, Belize, in Trinidad and other Caribbean islands. However, this is our first screening in the United Kingdom and we couldn’t be more pleased,” declared Mitzi Allen, Executive Producer of the film.

Actor Jeff Stewart will be at the London premiere for the Q&A which follows the screening. Carl Bradshaw and Stewart were guests on Sunday evening on BBC London with radio host Dotun Adebayo to discuss their roles in the film.

“Following on from the Caribbean visibility seminar held exactly a year ago it is great that we have been able to get more interesting stories, from dramas to comedy and from the young to the mature on screen for the world to see. London is also becoming more of a focal point for the global film industry and it is important for all to be able to appreciate not only the quality but also the potential of filmmaking coming out of the Caribbean and the British-Caribbean community,” noted Belgrave.

  • Champeon unleashes groovy Soca track “2nite”

Champeon unleashes groovy Soca track “2nite”

Trinidadian Soca artiste Champeon has released his 2015 groovy Soca contender entitled ‘2nite’

Columbia, South Carolina (Sonique Solutions) – Trinidadian Soca artiste Champeon has released his groovy Soca contender entitled ‘2nite’ which by several accounts is geared to be a true ladies anthem with its catchy hooks and attention-grabbing instrumentation.

Champeon whose real name is Ronnel Ramirez is based South Carolina and collaborated with US Virgin Islands crooner Adam O for this latest Carnival 2015 offering.
With production by St. Thomas based producer A Plus, Champeon wrote 2nite with the hopes of creating a track that would embody the Carnival spirit yet transcend the festival season.

2nite features melodic guitar strums and pulsating percussion beats and the song’s lyrics manifest images of Carnival euphoria and groups of females dancing and enjoying themselves in a fete. According to Champeon, “So far music fans, fellow artistes, DJs and producers have been very encouraging with this 2015 track, and have even described 2nite as very ‘danceable’ and captivating from the song’s first instrumental note.”

2014 has been a year of breaking boundaries for Champeon as he has collaborated with several entertainers from the Caribbean region as well as Africa, released his first Reggae track ‘Woman’s Anthem’ and had his previous Soca songs ‘Mad Man Dey’ and ‘Red Devil’ appearing on traditional R&B and Reggae charts in the US and UK.

He has been a staple in the North-American Caribbean festival circuit with performances at major nightclubs and events such as Charlotte Caribbean festival and Charleston Carifest, sharing stages with high profile entertainers the likes of Beenie Man, Benjai, 5 Star Akil, Chucky, Tallpree, and Pumpa.

As far as 2015 is concerned, Champeon is armed and ready with this new groovy Soca release and plans to do a video for 2nite as he truly believes in the song’s appeal. He remains humble and thankful to his fans, family, friends and artiste support team of Sunshyne P, Khwantza, Penny, Kirton and Coolie G.

The hard-working entertainer who has aspirations of performing in Madison Square Garden and working with Soca stars Machel Montano, Destra Garcia and Bunji Garlin has several live radio interviews set up in the Caribbean, US and Canada, an upcoming musical collaboration with Ghanaian artiste Blouk-Gee and will perform at the Bob Marley Winter Splash in February.

  • “New Chutney Soca Star Makes Debut With Sekon Sta and Advokit Productions At His Side”

    Johnnie 1

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad ———-A new Chutney star has been born and while he isn’t being boastful about his imminent rise to fame in the Chutney Soca arena, the 23-year-old who has teamed up with Advokit Productions ahead of 2015, is smiling a big, broad smile.

Johnnie will leave a lasting impression on every music lover in the upcoming carnival season in Trinidad and Tobago. His style of delivery has been described by some in the music business, as unforgettable. Having dabbled in rock music in T&T, performing with the band, Bangaseed, the ever-comical artiste knows just what it means to be a people’s performer. With that knowledge of the stage and an indirect sense of humour, it’s no shock that already, every performance of his new single, “Cougar”, leaves audiences calling for more.

The young entertainer whose real name is John Emmanuel, says he has a natural love for the culture of the Caribbean, making it easy to understand why he’s even tried his hand at singing soca parang music. His latest project with Advokit Productions however, promises to lure a strong Chutney Soca fan base with lyrics that speak of his need to find a ‘cougar’(an adult woman who seeks a young man) that can prepare the best roti dish for him- a dish he says he loves. Johnnie’s explanation of the single is enough to make anyone call for a live rendition of the track, something he’s always willing to accommodate.

“I think I’m a really unique performer. I never hold back,” said Johnnie, in describing his style on stage. “I’ve never been afraid to perform,” he confirmed, noting that this Christmas season, he has been confirmed to appear at a few events to sing his 2013 Soca parang single, “Cockset.”

His persona is enough to draw him in and with an energy to create music for all to enjoy, the newcomer to the entertainment limelight, is amped up and ready to deliver. “Cougar” was written by fellow entertainer, Sekon Sta and production was done by the Advokit production house- two entities, Johnnie admitted, had never dabbled in the creation of Chutney Soca music. In the end however, the final product proved that these guys have something special to offer to the genre that makes up a large part of Trinidad and Tobago’s carnival culture. Johnnie says he’s ready for 2015 and he’s telling fans to expect a lot of enjoyment when he hits the stage. “What you don’t see me do on stage, I do in the shower. I’m a great bathroom singer,” he admitted with a laugh.

Johnnie is very social online. Fans and music lovers can check out his Instagram and Twitter pages @Johnnie and on find him on Facebook @1868Johnnie.

MYSTIC REVEALERS REUNITE TO RELEASE CRUCIAL CUTS ALBUM ON JAN 13
& NEW SINGLE “HERB MUST LEGALIZE NOW” FEATURING CHRONIXX ON FEB 3
THROUGH VP RECORDS’ NEWLY-CEMENTED DUB ROCKERS IMPRINT

2015 Tour Dates To Be Announced

The Band’s Jamaica Headquarters Jamnesia Sparks Latest Reggae Revival

In a World Where Surfing, Skating and Roots Music Collide

Head east out of Kingston, Jamaica, past the city’s industrial waterfront and Norman Manley International Airport, and you’ll come upon the community of Eight Miles Bull Bay. There, along the beach, you’ll find Jamnesia, one of the most unique and eclectic outposts on an island that’s world renowned for such places. Equal parts community center, surf school, skateboard park and music venue, the one-of-a-kind hub known as Jamnesia is the homebase of guitarist, vocalist, surf legend and soap opera star Billy Wilmot and the famed Mystic Revealers.

After a nearly 15-year hiatus, the iconic band Mystic Revealers reunite to tour and release new material in 2015, introducing their music to a new generation. The group’s latest collect Crucial Cuts (available Jan 13, 2015 on VP Records new Dub Rockers imprint) gathers key tracks from the band’s 20-year catalog. The songs date back to the ’80s – including “Young Revolutionaries,” “Rasta Man,” “I’m Gonna Tell Ya” featuring Anthony B and the Sizzla collaboration “Tell Them.” In a nod to their other passions, the cover depicts founding members Wilmot, Edwards and Henry on surfboards and jet skis.

Three decades after their earliest single releases, the band’s message remains exactly the same as it did when Wilmot, Edwards, Henry and Davis first came together near the shores of Bull Bay. “We are like a postman sending a letter,” Wilmot says. “We might not be the ones who wrote the letter, even though the songs are ours. The messages being transmitted are from the Almighty-messages of love, honor, truth, justice and unity.”

Following Crucial Cuts, Mystic Revealers will release their brand new single on February 3, 2015, entitled “Herb Must Legalize Now” featuring one of reggae’s most talked about artists Chronixx, who got his start at Jamnesia.

Jamnesia has also become a crucial incubator for the latest wave of Jamaican music talent. Live sessions hosted on the premises provided an early point of exposure for the stars of reggae’s current roots revival. In addition to Chronixx, a new generation of talent like Protoje, Jah 9, Jesse Royal and Kabaka Pyramid frequent the headquarters. Read more on Jamnesia and Mystic Revealers’ lead singer Billy’s role in the fostering this resurgence on Reuters and VICE Noisey.

Carnival is all about Cause & effect

    Soca Music is the cause.
As West Indian people, it is highly likely that our initial reaction would be to dance when we hear sweet Soca music. Its even more likely that the type of dancing would be what we refer to as (wining).

    Dancing/Jiggle is the effect.
Wining is frequented by the women of the islands. And as we are all aware, when an island woman wines, the “Bam Bam Jiggles”.

This is what you can expect in this chain reaction called Soca, this is the way of life in the caribbean, and this is what is meted out in fine style by this talented duo. Spearheaded by the musical genius of Julian “Juelio” Nelson who then merged with Kern Rose of Saga Boyz Music on the project.

    reminiscing on the harsh past.

  • ” Only #1- Orlando Octave Settling For Nothing Less With Several Big Reveals Planned.”

” Only #1- Orlando Octave Settling For Nothing Less With Several Big Reveals Planned.”

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. ———–A true Trini Christmas spent with family and friends is enough to put a big smile on anyone’s face. For entertainer, Orlando Octave, this season’s an extra special one since he believes it will be the launching pad for some extraordinary occurrences in 2015.

“The rude boy is coming back with a bang.” That’s the refrain Octave’s been singing in the past few weeks- this, even as he’s already released four tracks for the upcoming 2015 Carnival season in Trinidad and Tobago. Now, with his heart set on delivering to music lovers across the world, songs they can truly enjoy in the season ahead, the young entertainer says carnival fete lovers had better prepare to party. “It’s time for us to do this right. I’ve learnt a lot in the past couple years. There’ve been ups and downs and above everything, being humble is a trait that has proven to be good for me. Now, it’s about time for me to re-emerge and rest assured, I am ready,” said Octave.

Octave’s separation from the Millionaire Family is a topic that has sparked much conversation. He says very soon he’ll be delivering something to the people that will let them know just where things stand now. “Everybody wants to know how things have been and all of that. Well, they’ll see very soon,” he said teasingly.

From Canada to New York, Miami, the Cayman islands and a number of stops in the Caribbean, and believe it or not, Africa, Orlando Octave’s been making good use of his time and talent. “People just haven’t been seeing or hearing about me here at home, but I’ve been putting in the work,” he assured. Now under new management, the ‘rude boy’ as he is fondly known has even been enjoying the success of his condom line and is preparing to release a line of clothing he’s calling, Mayan Clothing. The Mayan Project was formed by Octave just about two years ago and consists of a group of budding talent from his hometown of Rio Claro. It is something he holds near and dear to his heart.

For Octave, the musical journey so far, has prepared him in many ways. Now 24-years-old, his desire is to see more young artistes get a chance to shine in the soca music industry. “Erphaan Alves is one of those young artistes who deserves a little more recognition. He came up just like me more or less, and he is a hard worker,” said Octave, pleading with the veteran soca artistes to make room and welcome the next generation of soca talent. “For the past ten years the world has been hearing the same group of artistes. It would be nice if they would encourage the young ones, help them up too,” said Octave. Applauding Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons for their effort in creating the Ground Empire, Octave said similar efforts are needed to develop the industry.

Now under new management, the rude boy is one of those young artistes who’ll be making his presence and his vibe felt in the weeks ahead. Beyond carnival, he’s already ready to deliver. Collaborations with the likes of Jamaica’s Konshens and Demarco and U.S rapper, Soldier Boy, are all in the mix but he’s keeping a cool head, focusing on the present and ensuring that his every move is clearly thought out. “Right now, we’re working on getting the market at home in the Caribbean, re-acquainted. New music will be coming soon so fans and new supporters can listen out,” he said.

In the meantime, Octave’s social media buzz is strong. Fans are encouraged to follow him on Twitter @Orlando Octave, Instagram at RealOrlandoOctave, and on Facebook, keyword, Orlando Rude Boy Octave.
