FYA EMPRESS/MR.FUSION
Singer and songwriter Fya Empress hails from the beautiful island of St. Vincent. Whilst
no stranger to the stage, she has quickly risen to prominence throughout the Caribbean
for her contribution on this year’s Born Bad riddim produced by Alex Barnwell with a
track titled “Sak Passe.” Her performance of the single landed her 3rd place in this year’s
St. Vincent Ragga Monarch competition and has been hitting up the airwaves across the
soca music scene. Her previous singles No Money No Wuk and Water have also made
quite an impact during St. Vincent’s carnival season and remain two of her most heavily
rotated singles.
Fya Empress performs regularly at several hotels in Tobago together with versatile
vocalist David Reid a.k.a Mr. Fusion. The duo performs together under the name “Fire
Fusion” and although they are both based in Tobago they venture to St. Vincent each
year to participate in the island’s festival and its many competitions. Fya Empress’
most recent release VIP Ladies produced by Slaughter Arts from St. Lucia is already a
favorite amongst females. As she gets ready to defend her current title with Mr. Fusion
as the reigning soca monarch in Tobago later this month her eyes are set on upcoming
performances in Toronto, London and across the Caribbean. On a mission to develop her
sound and a hunger to show the world what this Vincentian beauty has to offer, also she
have been recently nominated for the International Soca Awards 2011 as the Best Female
Soca Artiste with the song No Money No Wuk . The International Soca Awards will be
held on Saturday 26th November 2011 at (NAPA) National Academy for the Performing
Arts in the Lord Kitchener’s Calypso Auditorium in Trinidad.
Fya Empress is definitely a female artiste on the rise.
